Tis the season for yes… allergies.

So what are allergies anyway? Why does your body torture you this way?

Allergies are the body’s overreaction to an innocent substance.

The body sees the substance as a danger and responds like it is being attacked. The mucus production helps flush out the pollen, dust mites, mold. The itching, hives, swelling is an inflammatory response.

The truth is, we should be able to be outside with tree pollen or ragweed or roses without sneezing our heads off. We should be able to pet a cat or dog without runny eyes. We should be able to eat nuts or strawberries or chocolate without developing a rash or not breathing.

So what can we do?

Well, we can take a drug which covers up the symptoms but doesn’t correct the cause. Plus those drugs make us drowsy and feel out of it and increase the risk of getting a sinus infection. Long term use can negatively affect the liver and kidneys.

The other medical solution is to prick you with needles for a few substances and then try to de-sensitize you with shots for the rest of your life. But again that is not correcting the problem with the immune system.

So what can we do?

Stay tuned for next weeks blog where we discuss natural and very effective remedies.
