I am having difficulty wrapping my mind around the hate, anger, and deep divisions in our country right now.

There is so much information, news, reports, opinions on both sides coming at us that I have had difficulty knowing how to heal our community.

So instead of my thoughts I will share with you quotes from people far wiser than I:

“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.” ~ Mother Teresa

“Be kind for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle.” ~ Plato

“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion. Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.” ~ Dalai Lama XIV

“If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.” ~ Booker T, Washington

“I believe that every single event in life happens is an opportunity to choose love over fear.” ~ Oprah Winfrey

“I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool for torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt, or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated and a person is humanized or dehumanized. If we treat people as they are, we make them worse. If we treat people as they ought to be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming.” ~ Goethe

I know I’m not alone in feeling at a loss right now. Feel free to share your favorite, uplifting and positive quote with us.

Dr. Julia Keiser

  1. “When you have hope and courage, somehow you can will yourself to create miracles and blessings.” Carlos Santana

  2. Thank you Dr. Keiser for the beautiful email, that’s what we need, love is the answer and lots of hugs. I must admit I started practicing hugging, it was exactly what I needed. I sure wish I was closer because I definitely would be a patient. Linda Eggmann
