Every day we see patients who have poor posture – some are embarrassed, some are proud of how bad it has become, some are resigned and some are guilty – must be the ones who had the nuns or yoga instructors scolding them.

Good posture is vitally important and here are just a few reasons:

  1. 90% of the stimulation and nutrition to your brain is generated by the movement of your spine.
  2. Poor posture decreases the vital capacity of your lungs.
  3. Hunching causes decreased nerve flow to your stomach, liver, pancreas and gallbladder.
  4. Flattening of the curve in your neck decreases endorphin production which causes an increase in pain, discomfort and depression.
  5. Forward head posture generates headaches, neck pain, ruptured discs and arthritis.
