This is not an invitation for a joke or a complaint about what you can’t remember. I am wondering if you know how much stress your brain really is under these days.

Our brains are under attack. Computer use, cell phone use, traffic, multi-tasking are all serious stressors. This may be why you can’t remember why you walked into a room or the name of the last book you read.

Over the last two weekends, the staff and I have attended seminars on the brain and new ways to improve function.

One way is something I have always suspected but research is now proving.

Neck adjustments improve the functioning of the pre-frontal cortex. This is the part of the brain that controls learning, focus, concentration and managing emotions.

All our high school and college students always want to be adjusted immediately before mid-terms and final exams. When I ask why, they always tell me they “think” better after an adjustment.

This research helped explain patients whose mood improves with chiropractic care. Several years ago a patient was worried because her husband, a dentist, was going to lose his practice due to his depression.

After trying several medications, he came in to our office. Within three weeks, he was off all medications and able to work full time.

So how do we keep our brains healthy?

natureUnplug, get out in nature, STOP multi-tasking and keep your neck in alignment.
