kids-backpacks

Back to school ads are everywhere. Yikes – that feels like the end of summer even though we are barely one month into it. So while wardrobes are being planned and supplies purchased, give some thought to what they will be wearing on their backs.

Backpacks should be worn over both shoulders and have a waist belt.

The fit and angle are important. Weight in the pack should not exceed 10% of body weight. OK so for a 75lb. kid, the pack shouldn’t be heavier than 7.5 lbs – that is one book!

We are seeing more and more kids with headaches, back pain, shoulder pain. Often the culprit is what they are carrying to school.

So before the school year begins, get them off to a healthy start. Have us do a computerized postural analysis and a backpack safety check.
